The Chronicle Lifeline Bookfest is just around the corner, meaning you can grab some books on a budget while supporting local charity efforts.
Now in its 45th year, the free-to-enter event will have thousands of titles on offer across all genres, as well as magazines, games and toys thanks to the generous donations of our community. All profits will go towards ensuring that the important work that Lifeline Darling Downs does can carry on and save more lives.
Lifeline Darling Downs - which employs over 200 staff and is aided by over 250 volunteers - works hard to support those in our community who need it most, through crisis support and suicide prevention services. They also connect individuals with financial and housing aid, health care, and employment, with a staggering 15,000 people receiving care and support in the past year.
So, if you’d like to stock up on some winter reading material and support this great cause, you can swing by the Bookfest on Saturday 07 March from 8.00am to 5.00pm, and Sunday 08 March from 8.00am to 2.00pm. All the action is happening at the Toowoomba Showgrounds on Glenvale Road, and there’ll be free parking on site as well as EFTPOS facilities.
If you’d like to volunteer an hour or two and help ensure the days run smoothly, you can contact Lifeline here.
