Behind every good city is a web of creative people quietly building things. This Friday, many of them will be in the same room.
The Toowoomba Creative Industries Summit is coming to The Annex on Friday, March 13, bringing together local artists, entrepreneurs, cultural leaders and creative thinkers for a day focused on the future of the region’s arts and creative sectors.
The summit will explore the intersection of art, culture, technology and entrepreneurship, and how those forces influence everything from liveability to economic growth. Across the program, attendees will hear from keynote speakers, participate in facilitated roundtable discussions and connect with others working across the region’s creative landscape.
The day begins early with a CreativeMornings session from 7:00am to 8:30am, offering a relaxed start to the morning and a chance for the local creative community to gather before the summit kicks off.
The session will feature a talk from well... myself (Sam), Editor of The Field Guide Toowoomba and creator of the city-wide scavenger hunt The Field Game, telling, local culture, exploring story and the role independent creative projects can play in shaping a city’s identity.
You can register for free tickets to the CreativeMornings session here.
Following the morning gathering, the Creative Industries Summit - Runway to 2032 continues with keynote speaker Rebecca McIntosh (Bec Mac), a nationally recognised artistic director, creative entrepreneur and arts journalist known for her work in creative placemaking and the night-time economy.
Throughout the day, facilitated discussions will bring together practitioners from across the region to share ideas, identify emerging opportunities and consider how Toowoomba’s creative sector might evolve in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The summit is supported through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government and Toowoomba Regional Council that supports arts and cultural initiatives across regional Queensland.
Tickets for the remainder of the summit can be booked here.
The Toowoomba Creative Industries Summit takes place at The Annex on Friday, March 13, beginning with CreativeMornings at 7:00am before the full summit program continues throughout the day.
