The Garden Room
This exhibition of paintings and ceramic works by Monica and David Usher celebrates the various garden environments that have been an important part of their world over the past 40 years. These new works for The Garden Room are an intimate look at the various spaces we have lived in and shared through all the seasons and adventures of our lives together. The garden becoming an extension of the home, a room outside which offers something more, a ‘garden room’, a space of refuge, solace, meditation, conversation, the company of friends and quiet moments in nature.

Symbiosis
Symbiosis encompasses Marisa Ballinger’s creative journey of deep introspection and self-discovery, investigating identity through personal ancestral reconnection and cultural understanding. Ballinger explores the intersection of two opposing worlds rendered as one, drawing conceptual and material strength from the dynamic interplay between research, process, and artistic expression.

The Mistletoe Waltz
This exhibition explores how environmental art practices can unearth and archive positive symbiotic stories. The artist’s sister’s property has experienced increased birdlife since becoming regenerative. Habitat loss is the key threat to the painted honey eater, traditionally farmers have shunned mistletoe, considering it a weed.

‘Life and Lines: Allan Bruce Retrospective’ serves as an exploration of the artistic journey of Allan Bruce, a distinguished artist and educator whose work has significantly shaped the cultural landscape of Toowoomba and beyond. Born in Dundee, Scotland, in 1944, Bruce’s artistic foundation was laid at the Dundee Art School, where he honed his skills and developed a unique voice that would resonate throughout his career. A Collective exhibition presenting distinctive perspectives and methodologies of three accomplished artists and friends.
Abernethy and Tremewen concentrate on interpreting patterns and shadows encountered in their daily environments, skilfully integrating these observations into their work.
Baxter investigates his surroundings through innovative techniques, placing emphasis on vivid colours and abstract interpretations of everyday life.
Collectively, the artists offer significant expertise and individual insight in their depictions of the world around them.

SIXTY: The Journal of Australian Ceramics 60th Anniversary 1962–2022 is a special Australian Design Centre On Tour exhibition project presented in partnership with The Australian Ceramics Association to acknowledge this significant anniversary.
This major exhibition will showcase the work of twenty-two acclaimed ceramic artists from across Australia, including Toowoomba’s own Dan Elborne, and other previous exhibitors such as Pippin Drysdale, Vipoo Srivilasa and Greg Daly.
