Febe Zylstra & Pamela Gough

  • Feather & Lawry 4 Russell Street Toowoomba City, QLD, 4350 Australia (map)

Feather & Lawry Gallery is pleased to announce Faces and Places, a compelling new exhibition presenting the work of two artists, Febe Zylstra and Pamela Gough, whose practices are united by shared themes of memory, narrative, and lived experience.

Though the two practices diverge in direction and style, together they offer parallel explorations of the human condition, one inward and deeply personal, the other rooted in the textures of the Australian landscape.

The Human Figure and Landscape

Febe Zylstra's work turns its gaze inward, exploring the human figure and landscape as vehicles for emotion, personal memory, and inner narrative. Shaped by reflection and identity, these works invite viewers into an intimate space where feeling and form intertwine, where a face or a horizon becomes a mirror for the stories we carry within us.

Textured Narratives of Place

Pamela Gough's work shifts the lens outward, celebrating connection to place through richly textured, narrative landscapes. Drawing from the everyday rhythms of Australia, these works honour the layered stories of old Queenslanders and familiar environments, revealing the land as a quiet witness to history, community, and the passage of time.

Together, Faces and Places invites viewers to consider how emotion, memory, and the stories of land exist independently, yet resonate alongside one another, two voices in one conversation about what it means to be human.
