Your go-to guide this Valentine’s

While we definitely don’t need a day to appreciate how amazing our significant others are, we’re also a hopeless romantic and can’t help but get caught up in the vibe. If you’re looking for things to this Valentine’s season, we’ve got you covered.

Get ready to win at love... ok, ok, maybe that is a slight exaggeration – we all know that true love is actually balancing on a door in the freezing North Atlantic.

But with Valentine’s day just around the corner, and Toowoomba’s waterways largely iceberg free this time of year, we can sometimes use a little help showing our significant other JUST how much they mean to us.

If you’re looking for things to this Valentine’s season, we’ve got you covered.

SPEED DATING

Firstly, for all those singles out there! Whilst there’s nothing on the list that’s couple specific (live your best life and book in that 9-course degustation and solo staycation!), for those looking to meet that special someone, this speed-dating-over-dinner evening has got you covered! For more details click here. Fri 09/02

CONCERT BY CANDELIGHT

The Concerts by Candlelight phenominom has been popping up globally for around 12 months now, and with good reason! . . an immersive evening of classical music, set amougst the city’s most architecturally striking buildings, and surrounded by hundrends of mood inducing candles; this Valentine’s special Timeless Love Songs from Classic Films. Sat 10/02

VALENTINES TWILIGHT MARKETS

For all the lovers and romantics out there, Aberfeldy are once again hosting their iconic Valentines Twilight Markets. Purchase pressies for your special other, bring your loved ones and enjoy an afternoon of food, shopping and very live music from the master of romance himself - Lawrence G. Sun 11/02

BOOK THAT ROMANTIC NIGHT AWAY

In the past-pace nature of modern life, is there anything more luxurious than slowing down, switching off, and taking a little time to get away. While the region is full of stunning boutique accomodation, airbnb and getaways; there’s just something about this secluded tiny house in the bush (15min from Toowoomba) that has us feeling that little bit extra-romantic. Oh, and then there’s (completely private) outdoor deck and bathtub!

FLOWERS, FLOWERS AND MORE FLOWERS
A classic go-to gift, for a reason, flowers (much like diamonds) are a girls best friend. Combine a beuutiful posy from one of the regions incredible florists with any of the other ideas mentioned (or some actual diamonds), or head out to one of the regions flowers farms, Botanica Rose Farm and Lilyvale Flower Farm, to pick your and win some serious brownie points.

SAY ‘I LOVE YOU’ WITH PASTRIES

. . .speaking of brownies, say “ILU’ with brownies, pastries, macarons and all assortment of drool-worthy goodies. Impressions on Scott are offering pre-ordered Valentine’s Day Treat Boxes, and The Baker’s Duck have this incredible love-themed Mille Feuille Heart - definintely big enough for two.

A LUX DINNER AND DRINKS
There’s no end of Valentines Dinner’s and events, and boy-oh-boy do we wish we could go to them all. From Preston Peak’s Nine Course Degustation with paired wines (yes nine!), to Host, Bergen, Piccolo, Gips, Encores, George Banks, The Plate, Ortem & Muller Bro’s each promoting their mouth-watering special offerings, there’s plenty to choose from.

For those looking to skip the dinner altogether, enjoy cocktails at Sante (opening especially for Valentines), the new and improved Cork & Lever, and head to Uva Wine Bar and Host Wine and Dining for that glass of Australian Red.

FLOAT YOUR WAY TO ROMANCE
We’re huge fans of the health benefits of Saunas, Float Therapy and Ice Baths (so much so that we wrote a whole article on it). And whilst we may give the Ice bath a skip for Valentines Day, and the jury here in the office was split on how romantic a sauna can be - we’re definintely on board with City Cave’s latest offer of a couples float for a different and interesting Valentine’s experience. While you’re at it, why not add in a massage at one of the city’s masseuses - you’ll thank us later.

POP UP PICNICS

Grab your partner or make it Galentine’s Day and enjoy a boutique picnic in the park. They’ll set up and pack down the gorgeous setting, and you can add grazing platters, balloon garlands, or even a swing. Get in quick to secure a time slot.

TAKE A HIKE

If you and your partner bond over fitness (you do you, people), then doing an old favourite or tackling a new challenging hike could be the way to go. Pack some snacks and climb Tabletop Mountain just in time to catch the sunrise over a picnic.

LIL’ BOXES OF JOY VALENTINE’S DAY BOX

Perfect for the love that’s toughing it out in quarantine or just to show you’re thinking of them, you can send a Lil’ Box of Joy straight to your Valentine’s door. Choose from the Valentine’s box or from one of several boxes filled with confectionary, self-care goodies, and even socks. Order through DoorDash and get same-day delivery.

Got an event we missed? let us know and we’ll add it to the list!
