Thursday 13 November | From 4pm | Grand Central
This year, Grand Central is reimagining its annual Tree Lighting event as a full-blown Winter Wonderland for Santa’s Arrival, turning Central Square into a Christmas dreamscape filled with snow, live entertainment and festive cheer.
From 4pm, the square will be buzzing with Christmas markets, local school performances, and roaming entertainers bringing the holiday spirit to life. Then, every half hour, the magic kicks up a notch with bursts of falling snow (yep, real snow) just to make Santa feel right at home.
And speaking of the big man himself, you’ll want to be there at 7pm sharp. That’s when a magician will conjure up Santa in a dazzling moment of festive theatre, the perfect way to kick off the silly season.
“This is a free, family-friendly event with something for everyone,” says Grand Central Marketing Manager Julie Thompson. “Don’t miss your chance to kick off Christmas in true Toowoomba style.”
The night’s stacked with local talent too, with performances from Disability Dance, Toowoomba State High School and more. Plus, if you spend $20 in-centre between 6 - 13 November, you’ll go into the draw to win one of two $500 Grand Central gift cards. The catch? You’ll need to be there on the night to claim your prize!
Santa Photos kick off the very next day (Friday 14 November), with bookings open for Baby’s First Christmas, Pet Photography and Sensitive Santa sessions, and they’re known to sell out fast.
