Let's Bring Back the Sunday Session

Apparently the Sunday Session died. Not on our watch.

we heard a rumour that the sunday session had died. #wrong

Even if we singlehandedly need to keep it alive ourselves, we will not let the Sunday session die. It seems impossible, considering everyone knows a Sunday session is the best time slot of the week. It’s still sunny, you’re surrounded by friends, the drinks are cold, the music is just quiet enough that you can talk, it’s an excuse to wear something cute… The Sunday session must not die.

Here are some locals helping to keep the tradition on its legs.

The Florence

The Florence crew is all about an al fresco Sunday sesh with live music, rosé by the glass and good food. They often have visiting liquor companies, like Aperol or Bacardi, come and do a pop-up activation, so keep an eye out for your favourite cocktail.

Music: yes, mostly live
something for everyone – cocktails, rosé and ice cold beer by the tap
the girls sipping cocktails and looking fab

George Banks

The new kid in town, George Banks is promising a regular Sunday sesh vibe with a seriously gorgeous view. The cocktail list is already garnering lots of excitement, so come early to snag a lounge or a table overlooking the city.

Music: yes, a DJ
Drinks: Champagne and cocktails
sophisticated, so put on your glad rags

The Royal

The Royal on Ruthven is a classic pub with a lovely beer garden, perfect for drinks at the sun goes down on the weekend. They occasionally do live music or play the footy, so just turn up and see what the afternoon brings.

Music: sometimes
Drinks: beer, beer and beer
casual, communal and fun

Bar Wunder

Toowoomba’s puppy-friendly bar is just like being in a share house with drinks and hot dogs and real dogs. There’s always a new trick here, whether it’s a new menu item or a wading pool to dip your feet in when it’s hot.

Music: recorded, and often ‘80s
Drinks: definitely beer, although they also have a good wine list
like you’re at your mate’s place, with lots of pups running around

A well-loved institution, Fitzy’s knows how to do a Sunday sesh, with live music all afternoon and drinks that suit everyone’s tastes. You’re bound to run into people you know here, so look out for your Year 2 BFF’s cute older brother.

Music: yes, live from 1pm
Drinks: beer and cocktails
live acoustic music and everyone you know from primary school

Muller Bros

Order some share plates and a couple of cocktails, and kick back with your friends as the sun goes down over this open-air rooftop bar. With chilled music (sometimes live) and plenty of room for the whole crew, you’ll be counting down the days til next Sunday.

Music: sometimes
Drinks: cocktails
chilling on the rooftop with a vodka tonic and the highest heels you own

Did we miss your favourite? Let us know, and we’ll add it to the list!
