We heard you loud and clear: I need more time to plan my weekend! And with that, welcome to The Field Guide’s guide covering what’s happening in the month of May, so you’ve got time to lock in plans well in advance.

ALFRED HITCHCOCK’S: THE 39 STEPS: 30 APR - 11 MAY

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python, and you have a fast-paced whodunnit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. Don't miss this much-loved gem, packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four), an old-fashioned romance, and a good old spy chase!

Get ready as the circus rolls into town.
Experience the spectacular Weber Bros Circus in Toowoomba this weekend! Prepare for jaw-dropping acts, thrilling performances, and family fun under the big top.

FOREST SONG & DON QUIXOTE: 04 MAY

By popular demand, The Grand Kyiv Ballet of Ukraine will return to Australia in May, June and July 2024. They will present again their double bill of Forest Song & Don Quixote. The audience response to their performances in 2023 was literally amazing with standing ovations following every performance.

TOOWOOMBA MARATHON: 05 MAY

On your marks! The Toowoomba Marathon is back for 2024. Run the streets of Toowoomba in the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km or 2km Junior Dash.

AUTUMN PICNIC AT BUNNYCONNELLEN: 05 MAY

Bring along your picnic rug and enjoy live music on our newly renovated outdoor stage from an incredible lineup of Australian Artists. Enjoy an extensive array of delights from Bluebird Kitchen & Smokehouse, Graze Co, Toowoomba Wood Fired Pizza, La Belle Crêperie, and this year we will be introducing a pop up Al a Carte restaurant from Soul Kitchen Co.

There will be market stalls available to browse, and the bar will be stocked with your favourite local beverages and seasonal cocktails.

COOL BRITANNIA: 05 MAY

90s Britpop Heavyweights Cool Britannia are coming to Toowoomba! Following a sold out interstate tour, they will raise the roof of Bodega Bar with all the bangers from Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Stone Roses, The Wonder Stuff, The Charlatans, Supergrass, The Verve, Happy Mondays & much more! This 5 piece touring live band totally capture the spirit of the 90's Britpop/Indie scene, you're in for a massive night!

THE TAP PACK: 07 MAY

Following sold-out shows and rave reviews on London’s West End, at Sydney Opera House and around the world, Australia’s hottest tap dance sensation, The Tap Pack is coming to Toowoomba!

Picking up where The Rat Pack left off, The Tap Pack conjures up a modern twist to the crooners and artists from the ‘50s through to the noughties! Featuring songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr to Ed Sheeran, Michael Bublé and Beyoncé.

OPERA AT JIMBOUR: 10 - 12 MAY

Returning with its most enchanting program to date, the event will showcase an elevated line-up of nationally and internationally renowned soloists and chamber musicians, including Opera QLD, Ensemble Q, Camerata—Queesland's Chamber Orchestra—and a 26-piece Orchestra from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.

FAIRHOLME OPEN ART PRIZE - FACETS: 10 -12 MAY

Now in its eigth year, ‘Fairholme Open Art Prize – FACETS’, presents a carefully selected and thoughtfully curated presentation by our Curatorial Team that invites a shared conversation, artistic expression, and audience engagement; and it is this, the celebration of Art, Education and Community that have become the focus of this exhibition.

Shannon Noll’s everyman appeal lies in his honesty and instant relatability. Nollsie’s rise to fame as the runner-up of the record breaking first series of Australian Idol, saw him go from being a farm hand in Condobolin, to one of Australia’s most cherished and recognised recording artists and entertainers.
