GIVE THE GIFT OF WARMTH THIS WINTER
Civic Assist’s Winter Warmth Appeal returns to Grand Central this May, helping provide warm clothing and bedding to Toowoomba locals doing it tough.

Clean out that cupboard, find those winter woolies you aren’t using and donate to a good cause this May.
As temperatures begin to drop across the region, Civic Assist’s annual Winter Warmth Appeal is once again calling on the Toowoomba community to help support individuals and families experiencing hardship this winter, with Grand Central returning as a major collection point for the campaign.
From Thursday 14 May to Saturday 16 May, a mega donation booth will be set up on Level One near Myer, making it easy for locals to drop off quality pre-loved or new winter clothing, jackets, blankets and doonas.
And as a little extra incentive to give, the first 50 people to donate a large bag of goods will receive a $20 Grand Central Gift Card.
For Civic Assist, the appeal is about far more than just winter clothing.
“The gift of warm clothes and blankets provides immediate relief for people and families experiencing hardship,” Civic Assist Operations Manager said.
“It helps prevent severe cold-related illness, increases social dignity and offers vital comfort to those facing severe emotional and financial stress.”
The annual appeal also supports people across the Toowoomba region through vouchers redeemable at the Civic Assist Support Centre during May and June, helping provide access to essential winter items when they’re needed most.
Grand Central Community Relations Manager Georgina Bayly said the shopping centre was proud to continue supporting the initiative and providing an accessible collection point for the community.
Whether it’s a spare doona tucked away in the linen cupboard, jackets the kids have outgrown, or winter clothing no longer being used, the appeal is a simple reminder that small acts of generosity can make a very real difference during the colder months.
Outside the Grand Central collection dates, donations can also be dropped at the Civic Assist Support Centre donation bin at 258 Spring Street, Kearney Springs, with the wider Winter Warmth Appeal continuing through until Friday 27 June, 2026.
