On his first day in Sweden, Trevor, an Australian musician met Magda, a Polish dentist. 15 years and two children later, the moved to Australia together.

During his time in Sweden, Trevor developed Metiisto Artisan Chocolate, Sweden’s first craft bean-to-bar chocolate brand. In mid-2018, he decided to re-establish the brand here in Toowoomba, moving back to be closer to family and winters that are cold but not -20C cold.

Using cocoa beans from the Solomon Islands, the company started again, not really knowing if the model would work in Australia (let alone a warehouse in Harristown!). So far, the risk has paid off. Metiisto has already won three gold medals at the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria Food Awards – Australia’s largest food competition. They sell bars all around the world, and are developing new products and collaborations all the time.

Lucky for us, Metiisto opens its factory doors once a week on a Saturday morning, giving you the opportunity to purchase directly from the maker himself (like a cellar door, but for chocolate). You can also find the bars at Emeraude, Wendlands, Sleepless City Roasters and The Cobb & Co. Run, don’t walk.
