frequently asked questions
how do businesses get included in the field guide's directory?
The Field Guide team has hand-selected every business that you can see in our directory. We've chosen these businesses because they're already popular or because they're doing something different. None of these businesses have paid to be included.
If you'd like to be included in The Field Guide directory, drop us a line! We'd love to hear more about you! We release a new listing most weeks, so stay tuned by signing up to our newsletter too.
but if it's free, how do you make money?
We offer very limited, very curated advertising opportunities. If you'd like to advertise with us, please get in touch. We'd love to chat about bringing your brand to life!
can i use these photos?
You are welcome to share these photos on your social media channels. We just ask that you tag and credit The Field Guide whenever you use one of our images – otherwise we maintain the right to request you take it down.
Our images are not designed to be used in materials such as your brochures or on your website. Just for fun social sharing.
Even if the photos of you or your business, they are still owned by The Field Guide. If you’re interested in having a photo shoot that you can use however you wish, we can’t recommend enough that you speak to our wonderful photographer Morgan Journal about organising something custom through her freelance business.
i've noticed something is incorrect. how should i let you know?
Please send us an email and we'll get that sorted out right away. We do our best to keep everything as up to date as possible but we're a small team. Thanks for noticing!

what's this all about?
The thinking behind The Field Guide is simple: a rising tide lifts all boats.
By creating a platform that celebrates and showcases the incredible businesses and events Toowoomba has to offer, we will build up our city with the sorts of shops, cafés and events we want to see.
We can play a part in creating the city we want to live in.
but there's nothing cool in toowoomba. Where do you even find this stuff?
Ha! Wrong! Toowoomba is awesome! This is coming from a team in their 20s who decided to move back to Toowoomba from the big cities. But we get it; Toowoomba can have a bit of a reputation as being daggy.
And to this we say – then fix it! If you want to see cool events in your niche, do something about it. If you wish there were more cool cafés/restaurants/boutiques, go and support the ones out there already. Otherwise investors and entrepreneurs will go somewhere else.
