An exhibition of hand sewn ball gowns and accessories.
The exhibition will display approximately 60 ball gowns made by Duclie’s friend and professional Toowoomba dressmaker Mrs Thelma Beutel. The dresses span 4 decades from the 1950s, showing the changing in fashions, designs and patterns. The material of the dresses are varying, from crepes, brocade, gold and silver lame and crimpelene.
Guest speaker Ann Alcock co-author of “Frocks, country hall and deb balls” will say a few words about the collection and its significant importance for the Darling Downs, as a snap shot of fashion, as an insight into the world of dancing in country areas.
