the baker’s duck is a collaboration between two local hospitality pioneers – the coffee lovers of Ground Up Espresso and the sourdough masters of The original Baker’s Duck.
The baker behind The Duck spent 16 years as a fine-dining chef before settling into the unassuming town of Pittsworth to learn the meticulous craft of artisan sourdough baking. Not a place you expect to find a master of viennoiseries, but so began an adventure that would see her selling out at farmer’s markets, and then at a wholesale site on Bellevue Street, where the doors would roll up each Saturday morning to serve croissants and baguettes to an ever-hungry, ever-growing crowd.
Everything at The Bakers’s Duck is made from scratch – and the croissants can take four days to make.
The hardworking team is always experimenting, offering novelty treats filled with seasonal produce and childhood favourites (such as milo) as well as a standard roster of pastries, pies, sausage rolls, and sourdough breads. Everything is made with organic, unbleached flour by a team who really gives a damn about your breakfast treats.
