Things to Do This Easter Weekend

time to get planning

Another weekend, another round of ‘what should we do?’

Well, between Easter services, blacksmithing demonstrations, live music all over town and classic cars, there really is something for everyone.

VISIT: The Highfields Pioneer Village for their annual Easter festival – milk a cow, learn how to crack a whip or be a blacksmith. Enjoy billy tea and damper made on authentic camp ovens.

DONATE: blood at the Toowoomba Donor Centre. There’s a huge drop-off in donations over Easter, the centre estimates it needs 400 locals to make an appointment to give blood or plasma between now and the end of the month. Be a good egg.

ATTEND: a morning service on Good Friday, such as St Bart’s, HumeRidge, St Stephen’s or the family-friendly festival at Highlands. All have special services on Easter Sunday as well, which are generally held both in the morning and the evening.

LISTEN: to the streets come alive with the Toowoomba Busking Festival all Saturday. Take a bit of extra time to wander around the city and support our local musicians as the compete for prize money. Or visit Kingfisher Café at The Springs on Sunday for some more live music as you plan your spring garden.

STROLL: our city as part of the annual Streets & Lanes Festival. There’s music, food and crafts for the kids.

DROOL: over the collection of 100 classic cars at the Studebaker Car Club’s annual meeting.

PLAY: as many board games as you can fit in at Battlestation’s adults-only game night.

WATCH: the Rowes Easter Light Show – a perfect (early) night out with the kids. Or special screenings of ‘Guess How Much I Love You’ all weekend.

STRETCH: and walk off those Easter eggs with a Sunday morning trail yoga session.
