another weekend, another round of ‘what should we do?’

To help with the decision fatigue, we’ve rounded up some ideas for this lovely (supposedly rainy) weekend. There’s something here for everyone, whether it’s families, fitness junkies or beer lovers.

EAT: As well as the usual eating options, there are two Oktoberfest celebrations this weekend – a street party at Blank Space, and a festival at The Bavarian. Get your fill of pretzels and bratwurst.

DRINK: There are plenty of good Sunday sessions if you’re recovered from Oktoberfest the day before. The Fiveways, The Southern Hotel, The Florence and the City Golf Club are all hosting sessions with live music.

SEE: Karri McPherson’s latest exhibition officially opens on Sunday at the Regional Art Gallery. Theatre lovers should catch Brecht’s political play, Round Heads & Pointed Heads, on Friday.

SHOP: Make sure you stop by the local farmers markets this weekend, even if it’s raining. Farmers still need to sell their produce! You can go on Saturday or Sunday mornings. We also think rainy days are the perfect time to browse through The Tea Centre, our latest directory addition, and choose yourself a stormy weekend blend.

KIDS: Shrek The Musical is showing all weekend at The Empire. It’s won a Tony Award (the highest honour in musical theatre), so if you’re wondering what to do with the kids this rainy weekend that’ll do donkey, that’ll do…

MOVE: The Highfields Recreation Centre is hosting a charity event where your team competes in 12 exercise classes in 12 hours. Get your workout in and raise money for Lifeflight. Otherwise maybe catch a barre class at Pure Pilates & Wellness or a good stretch at Chief Machu Picchu.
